| Q |
We have heard that a company is in Administration.
Why isn’t this showing on Riskdisk?
|
| A |
There is a delay between a company entering Administration and
that fact being available in the public domain.
This may amount to 2 weeks. We receive formal notification of the
various types of Administration from the Gazettes, Companies House
and some professionals appointed by the courts.

| Q |
What are "intangible assets"?
|
| A |
Examples are software, goodwill, brand names. They may be included
under "fixed assets" in the balance sheet, but if the company gets into
difficulties, are likely to be valueless. They must be considered
carefully in deciding how creditworthy a company is.

| Q |
Why does a company have a dissolved-looking warning sign and a suspended credit rating?
|
| A |
If a company fails to file its Annual Return on time, Companies House may
threaten to dissolve it. Until the Annual Return is filed, it will be shown like this.

| Q |
What are "Auditor's Comments"?
|
| A |
If a company has been audited (small companies are not required to be
audited and often are not) the Auditor – an independent, professional
accountant – must report on the financial status of the company.
We recognise 6 levels of Auditors Comments. The Comments can be
found in the published accounts. In most cases this will be a ‘Clean Report’.
However, the other 5 levels cover increasing levels of concern.
Most result in us suspending the credit rating.
